What is HP Edgeline Technology?
Edgeline is HP's latest advance in print technology designed
to meet the needs of the high volume, colour printing business.
Edgeline is an ink-based printing engine designed
with printheads that actually span the width of the page. This
removes the speed limitations that are imposed when using current
ink cartridge technology where the cartridge moves as well as the
paper.
With Edgeline printers, the large, stationary
printheads mean that just the paper moves and so the increase in
print speeds is dramatic - speeds up to 72 ppm . Furthermore, the
ink placement is more precise, performance is world class, less
maintenance is required and so the overall cost of ownership is
reduced too.
The Technology Difference
The three key elements of Edgeline are:
- Page wide print heads
- Moving the paper under the printer
- Optimised, high performance, market specific
ink systems
Unlike laser printers where the drum and fuser
press against the paper to transfer toner to the page, Edgeline uses
non-contact ink printheads, this reduces wear and tear on components
that require replacement. Consequently, Edgeline printheads are designed
to last up to 2 million A4 size pages.
